16 foot & ankle surgeons have been paired to face off head-to-head in a bracket style single elimination tournament over four rounds. Each speaker will have 5 minutes (strictly regulated) to present a foot & ankle Limb Salvage case, with a different category assigned to each round. After each speaker of the paired matchup finishes, the audience will then have 30 seconds to cast their vote as to which surgeon advances to the next round. Losing Speakers are eliminated from the tournament (but may participate in the audience voting if desired). Winning Speakers advance to the next round.
Voters will vote on specific criteria.
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Cine-Med and LER Expo. Cine-Med is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Dr. Sugino is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon specializing in comprehensive reconstruction of the foot and ankle. She is board certified in foot and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS).
Dr. Sugino advanced her surgical and clinical training by completing an additional year of fellowship at the Newport Advanced Foot & Ankle Fellowship in Newport Beach, CA. Her training focused on reconstructive forefoot, hindfoot and ankle surgery, including complex Charcot reconstructions utilizing Ilizarov external fixators, limb deformity correction, lower extremity trauma, sports medicine, total ankle replacement, and plastics procedures including advanced muscle, adipofascial and skin flaps for limb salvage.
Prior to fellowship, Dr. Sugino completed a three-year podiatric surgical residency at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, IL where she trained at the prestigious Weil Foot & Ankle Institute. Simultaneously, she completed a Dermatopathology Fellowship that specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous skin and soft tissue disorders including skin cancer with Bako Pathology in Alpharetta, GA. She received her medical education from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Sugino grew up in Wailuku, HI and received her B.S. in Biology, Minor in Music, and M.S. in Molecular Biology Infectious Disease from University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA.

She is a speaker at many conferences around the country, and she is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and the American Microsurgical Orthoplastic Society (AMOS).

Haywan Chiu, DPM, is a podiatric surgeon at Albuquerque Associated Podiatrists in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He specializes in diabetic limb salvage. Dr. Chiu's medical education has taken him from coast to coast in the United States. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2007, before moving east for medical school, graduating from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2013. Dr. Muhammed Sharoz Shamim is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon at Insight Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Dr Shamim sees patients for all conditions of the foot and ankle, with a special focus on reconstructive surgery, total ankle replacement, minimally invasive bunion correction, and peripheral nerve surgery. Dr. Thomas Rocchio is a nationally recognized expert in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, with over two decades of experience in advanced podiatric care. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, followed by an intensive surgical residency at Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA. There, he trained under world-renowned surgeon Dr. Guido LaPorta, gaining advanced expertise in complex foot and ankle procedures, including Charcot reconstruction, limb lengthening, and pediatric deformity correction. Board certified in foot surgery as well as reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, Dr. Rocchio is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a respected speaker on diabetic limb salvage and advanced surgical techniques. He has lectured across the U.S. and internationally and remains actively involved in clinical innovation. Dr. Rocchio is the developer of the “parachute technique” for fat pad restoration and co-designer of an external fixation frame widely used by surgeons nationwide. He also completed specialized training in external fixation biomechanics at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, where his research was presented at the international ASAMI conference.
